23rd December - Same old celtic, always cheating. Nice chant amongst all the other vocalising rolling off the home terraces. The tims were a massive disappointment and proved themselves to be little more than a bunch of hammer-throwers intent on bullying their way to victory. They got away with murder for most of the game with the wimpish Dougal of Burnside (nowhere near Glasgow) standing disinterestedly by whilst they did it. The Dons weren't having any though and once they got the ball down on the deck and away from the weegie airial route, they looked by far the better side.

There were a lot of injustices in the match yesterday, not least the sending off of Derek Whyte after Petta had put on the petted lip and tried to nut McAllister. Strangely, the weegie press managed to see that incident the other way, despite the fact that the tim sub had chased McAllister all over our penalty box to get at him. Add to that the booking of Bisconti for getting elbowed in the face and it's not too hard to see which way the officials were blowing. The big shock of the day must have been the penalty, but even the tims can hardly argue that Hartson's blatant scoop at the ball was anything but illegal and it made up in part for the penalties we didn't get in either half when Young and Dadi were brought down whilst on the ball in the vistors' box.

Unsurprisingly, the west coast press are making a meal of the snowballing - how many people carrying cool-bags did you see? Maybe it was a bit naive of the Rudolphs in the South Stand to indulge in that bit of festive tomfoolery in this day and age and we'll probably be in trouble with the SPL for it, but why have the weegie reporters chosen to ignore the tim fans doing the same thing? Especially since they were pelting the officials, as clearly seen on TV, which is a much worse offence.

Whatever happens about that though, we have beaten the tims at long last and did it on merit. The early Christmas pressy is doubly welcome because it has seen the run of home victories extended and of course, Charlie Allan now has to keep off the pies for a whole year. Just exactly how many Christmases are falling this week?

13th December - Alex Mcleish's defection from Easter Road to Iprix has come as a hard blow to Aberdeen supporters and doubtless most of us will be hoping that he enjoys no success whatsoever whilst in charge of the blue meanies. The line has to be drawn at that though. McLeish was a fantastically loyal player for the Dons and hugely important in our greatest successes and that has to outweigh by far the fact of his going to work for David Murray. He's due to bring his troops to Pittodrie on the 19th of January, not too far away, and the best possible reception for Big Eck will be for our terraces to sing his name to the rafters - not to boo him. Can you imagine how wound up the huns will feel if we are happy to see one of our greatest players paying a visit despite being in charge of the soap dodgers? Excellent, the image in the mind's eye of huns foaming at the mouth with fury because we are singing McLeish's name is one to savour and it will be superb to make that dream come true in January.

Let's face it, McLeish has drawn a short straw taking on the management of the least tolerant club in football. Can you imagine the pressures he and his family will be under if he isn't winning every week? Already their fans are doubtful about him because of his playing past - "he didn't show he was a rangers supporter when he played against us" - fox ache! Whatever hostility he'll be facing this early on is nothing to what he'll get if it all goes pear shaped for him and his team as the season develops. The last thing he needs is pelters from us as well. As a professional manager, it's easy enough to see the decision to go to the huns was a career move, more pay , more resources, more players. Let's just hope that when time draws near for the Dons to host the huns that Eck won't get drawn into the baby talk that we get from the weegie press and the used to get from Advocaat. McLeish has an opportunity to repair some damage. It's doubtful that he'll go that far, but surely he won't try to make relations between the two clubs worse than they already are?
